That’s right, fans—in just about five weeks, Halloween Horror Nights will be back taking over the streets of Universal Studios Florida. And, tonight, as another sneak-peek at Halloween Horror Nights 24, we are revealing the first scare zone.
For six seasons now, you’ve seen the most talented up-and-coming makeup artists create gruesome and fantastical characters on Syfy’s hit television series Face Off. And now the most nightmarish creatures they have created will surround you in this year’s Face Off Scare Zone. This new scare zone will feature ten different character creations inspired by the Syfyhit show, including a look designed by Season 5 Face Off winner, and Universal Orlando make-up artist, Laura Tyler. By Matt Korn You know it’s going to be a good day when you get to spend it in Diagon Alley with the Weasleys.
James and Oliver Phelps, along with Bonnie Wright, were given a special tour of Diagon Alley by Thierry Coup, Senior Vice President of Universal Creative, and Alan Gilmore, Art Director of the Harry Potter films and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Seeing the looks on their faces as they walked through the brick wall into Diagon Alley was awesome. Despite the fact that they have grown up surrounded by the magic of the films, it was plain to see they were awestruck. “I was amazed when I walked into Diagon Alley,” Bonnie said. “The attention to detail is just above and beyond.” Thierry and Alan shared a few of their favorite areas of Diagon Alley, including Gringotts Bank and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. By Jimmy Clarity It’s a situation most of us are familiar with: You pull the phone out of your pocket, curse the draining battery and try unsuccessfully to connect to the one feeble Wi-Fi connection you can actually pick up (although you probably don’t technically have permission to access it). I know, I know. It’s happened to me a million times. Well, here at Universal Orlando Resort, that’s a thing of the past thanks to the debut of free park-wide mobile Internet access from Xfinity WiFi. When you’re in the parks or Universal CityWalk, just look for “xfinitywifi” on your mobile device and follow the steps to get started. Official Mobile App What’s the big deal about free Wi-Fi, you ask? I mean, about every coffee shop on the planet offers free Wi-Fi. Well, most coffee shops I know of don’t also have a ridiculously cool new mobile app! That’s right, we’re also proud to announce the launch of The Official Universal Orlando Resort App. This puppy offers up features our guests have been asking us for…all at the swipe of a finger. Attraction Wait Times Let’s start with attraction wait times. This one’s obvious. You love Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit; you don’t love lines. Now you can monitor the wait times on your phone from across the park and swoop in just when it’s dipped below your acceptable threshold. Cha-ching! Photographic Wayfinding If you’re anything like me (or my directionally challenged girlfriend), than one of the most utilized apps on your phone is the GPS map. We’ve created our very own map function for both theme parks. What makes this tool stand out is that it uses real park images that help visually guide you step-by-step to your desired attraction. It’s like your phone has eyes…and a brain…and a compass…and a detailed understanding of satellite technology. Oh wait, it does. Additional Features Among the app’s other features is a tab providing in-park information on ride status, upcoming show times and special events. There’s also an intuitive sorting feature that allows you to explore Universal Orlando by park, by activity or by amenity. Because what good is an app if it can’t tell you where the nearest corn dog stand is. Cue infomercial voice: But that’s not all, folks! The app will add loads of other cool features over time, like social sharing capabilities, instant Express Pass purchase (even in queue lines!) and customizable itineraries so you can make your vacation, well, your vacation. So, hit up the Apple or Google Play app store and download The Official Universal Orlando Resort App for free. You’ll thank me later. A new Sweet addition has been opened at Universal Orlando Resort Menchie’s is located on the second floor promenade of CityWalk, near Element. This popular frozen yogurt shop provides a fun experience with an expansive, self-serve toppings bar and multiple and changing frozen yogurt flavor selections. So, next time you are heading out for a night at CityWalk, or need a sweet treat after a day in the parks, check-out Menchie’s and let us know what flavor combination you create.
Universal orlando Resort revealed today on its Blog, the amazing entertainment and interactive experiences you’ll find when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley opens this summer at Universal Studios Florida.
Imagine catching a live performance by a popular singing sorceress; seeing The Tales of Beedle the Bard come to life with a goose bump-inducing show performed by a troupe of four from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts; seeing the banter between the Knight Bus Conductor and a shrunken head; and exchanging your Muggle currency for Wizarding Bank Notes while meeting a Gringotts goblin. If all of that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will! It begins when you step through the archway in the brick wall into Diagon Alley, take a right at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and enter the bustling shopping area called Carkitt Market. That’s where you’ll find two live shows performed daily that will captivate fans of all ages. The first show will bring to life two fables from The Tales of Beedle the Bard – “The Fountain of Fair Fortune” and “The Tale of the Three Brothers” (which was featured in the seventh film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1”). Performed by a troupe of four from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts, this trunk show uses scenic pieces, props and puppetry fabricated by Emmy-award-winning designer Michael Curry. By Jenn Parker USA Today had the opportunity to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley Expansion and discover the great adventures that are hidden behind the construction walls. The New land set to open this summer will bring guests to the exact places named on the books, also features new rides and adventures showed in the Series Films. The video below includes a walk through Diagon Alley with Universal Orlando Creative Director Thierry Coup of and Chef Steve Jaysen, showing off some of its highly detailed facades, window displays, and a sneak peek at the many flavors to be served at Florian Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour.
By Jenn Parker Have a look at the goblins that will be featured in Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, the groundbreaking main attraction that will be in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. The goblins are definitely one of my favorite things about the new ride. Once you’re inside Gringotts bank, you’ll actually walk through the main hall and see goblins hard at work counting money, writing notes — and even occasionally looking up to give you a not-so-friendly glance as you make your way through.
